52 Ancestors: week 38 of 2022, New to You
OK, I have nearly totally blown this off but I am still interested in genealogy and I think that I will be returning to these topics and writing because I just broke my right arm this past Friday and can't sew for now. I've been doing research and loving the 1950 census data (oh my gosh, like a snapshot of very small town America!) but at some point I thought "maybe I should do something with maternal mitochondrial DNA." So, with no particular research about how to even understand this data, nevermind that I still have to figure out the whole GEDCOM thing for my family tree on Ancestry (no, I will not be uploading anyone else's tree to my own tree), I sent for the kit from Family Tree. I appreciated not having to spit for this test, though I may be the most incompetent inner cheek scraper on the planet. But, good enough, and I have gotten my results. I have been contacted by one near match who randomly lives just about 100 miles south of me--and then ...
